Throughout my life, I always knew I wanted to help people while pursuing my entrepreneurial spirit, but I wasn’t sure exactly what path to take. That changed in 2006 when I became aware of the need for better treatment options in Pittsburgh. At that time, existing Methadone programs had long waiting lists, the term “Opioid Epidemic” wasn’t yet part of our national vocabulary, and Suboxone was still in its early stages.
Recognizing the growing need for accessible treatment, I decided to start Freedom Healthcare Services. My vision was to create a place that wasn’t just a facility, but a community—a great place to work, a great place to receive care, and, most importantly, a program where everyone felt valued, unjudged, and welcome. “Treatment with Compassion” became both our slogan and our mantra.
It wasn’t an easy journey. The phrase “Not in my backyard” (NIMBY) became part of my daily reality. Despite these challenges, we persevered and were able to open our doors in Bridgeville in 2009.
While I have not personally experienced opioid dependency within my family, addiction has certainly touched my life—through friends, their children, and my children’s friends. As we all know, addiction does not discriminate; it knows no social boundaries and waits silently, like a sniper. I am proud to say that through Freedom Healthcare, we’ve helped thousands of patients and positively impacted tens of thousands of lives, including the families of those we treat. We’ve also been able to provide our staff with stable, rewarding careers, allowing them to pursue their passion for helping others.
I am immensely proud of everyone who has contributed to making Freedom Healthcare a trusted name in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. Together, we have built a solid reputation rooted in compassion, with an unwavering commitment to our patients’ recovery.
